Ear Tipping

Step 31

Add a dab glue and fold the top part of the ear into the little bump of the ear. Press and hold firmly for approximately 25 seconds and if the ear does not
stay down, just add another dab of glue.

This is how your ears will look when they are finally all glued down.

Step 33

Now take those little tabs of moleskin that are on top of the head. Grab each
end and pull them together (overlapping each other). If the mole skin
is too long, just cut the tabs down to the proper length. All you need is for
the tabs to overlap one another by about 1/2 inch.

It is important that you brace the ears together. It helps teach them to use their ears. I do not have any problems with any of my dogs using their ears when they are in the ring. I have friends who have not braced their ears and their ears are always back and very rarely do they use them in the ring.

Put a dab of the Speed-Sew on one of the tabs.

Now take the tabs and pull them together so that they overlap one another by about a ½ inch. Hold the tabs firmly together for approximately 25 seconds.
If it comes undone, just add another dab of glue and press and hold again.

Step 36

Congratulations, you’re finally done and this is the finished look!

Blu Water’s Put Out The Fire (Cinder) N/E

This is your finished product. I have not glued Cinder’s ears since she was 6 months old. Her ears are always tipped and I have NEVER had to weight her ears, even for the show ring. Her ears are like this ALL the time. You must be consistent with your training. If their ears become unglued, glue them back down or completely redo them within a day. Don’t be that person that says “I’ll do it tomorrow” because tomorrow turns into a few weeks or longer. Then you ruined what you have just done. The key to beautifully tipped ears is to be consistent. I have had this method of taping stay in anywhere from 2-5 weeks. A lot depends on the weather and humidity. Our little ugly duckling turned out to be this beautiful bitch!
